These next couple months are when we'll see advancements in physical development, motor skills and speech. These next couple months become the months of expectation. When will he get his first teeth? When will he be able to bring himself into a sitting position? When will he crawl? When will he say his first words? When will he pull himself up on furniture? When will he start to use sign language?
Certainly, Asher's peers have set the bar. Some of our friends' younger kids are beginning to do some of these things. Asher is on his way. He can't crawl yet, but he can sit up unassisted. He can also make the rasberry sound and say "mama" and "dada". He is also teething and is sporting a full head of hair.
This was a pretty fun month for Asher. He was off from school and got to spend the summer with "mama" who was also out for the summer. While Logan was at the JCC camp, mama and Asher hit the town including the Kiddie Gym at Gold's Gym. We reserved the weekend for more of the fun events like a Sea World Luau, a pool party where Asher went swimming for the first time, and visits from relatives. He also got to celebrate Father's Day with both his grandfathers and went to a couple birthday parties.
In last month's blog, we said we couldn't complain about Asher, but he has defeated us. He has learned a new trick called "cry at a high pitch until mommy or daddy come get me". He likes to try this trick at around 3am or 4am. It is like a game of chicken to see who will give in first. Will we come get him or will he stop crying. As soon as we come in the room, flip him over on his back, cover him with a blanket, and give him a pacifier, he is good for another hour. Of course, if he gets you to pick him up and bring him into bed, he has won the game and laughs with a smile from ear to ear. It is a good thing he is cute.
Asher did have his 6 month check-up in the 7th month. He weighed 15 lbs, 6 oz. His height was 26.25" and he still seems to fit in 3-6 month clothes. We don't like to compare the two boys, but he weighs a bit less than Logan did at his 6 month checkup. At the time, Logan was 18 lbs 8 oz. It is no wonder why Asher doesn't weigh more. He just doesn't love food the way Logan did. He is on Stage 2 foods and he doesn't always finish a meal and definitely doesn't finish every bottle. He just chews on the nipple and smiles like he is chewing a piece of gum.
